This morning, Django was attacked by another dog.

This morning, Django was attacked by another dog. There have been several near-conflicts before with one of her dogs—once with Jack and another time with Django. But this time, it turned into an actual fight.

Django was on a leash, and just as I was rounding a corner, I saw one of her dogs approaching (it’s always off-leash). Django started barking at it, so I decided to quickly turn around. Suddenly, I saw her other (large) dog running straight to Django, with a leash still attached to its collar. The dog was leashed but it turned out that the leash had broken.
The dog went into full attack mode, and Django fought back.

It all happened very quickly, and I tried to stop it, but I couldn’t. Thankfully, the owner quickly ran over and immediately grabbed her dog.

From what she said and my own previous experiences, it was likely that this happens more often. Fortunately, she took responsibility and said she would muzzle her dog from now on. She also told me where she lives, just in case anything was wrong with Django. She was very upset as well and felt really bad about the incident.

When we found a quiet spot to continue our walk and calm down, I noticed that Django had a perforation wound on his lip. Luckily, it wasn’t all the way through. The other dog must have weighed around 50-55 kg, so it could have been much worse.

We cleaned the wound with a saline solution and applied honey ointment. We’ll keep an eye on it, but if it starts to get infected, we’ll get some antibiotics. So far, it looks okay.

Django seemed to be doing alright not long after, but I’m going to give him a break from too much stimulation for a while. He’s been pretty reactive on the leash lately, and this incident certainly won’t help with that. Hopefully this incident doesn’t effect his long-term mental well-being 🙏🏻

It’s very sad that they can not longer get along. After moving houses last year, they grew closer and became real buddies again. But ever since Jack’s health started to decline, tensions have been building. They can still go for walks outside together, but unfortunately things aren’t the same at home anymore. Therefore we keep them separated (for almost a year now). We feel deeply sad about it, but sadly, this is the reality now.

Yesterday, Django had his check-up with his osteop

Yesterday, Django had his check-up with his osteopath @marjoriewesterhof. He had a few minor tension points, but they were minimal and easily treated. Once again, he’s in great shape and in perfect condition. Feeling grateful for his continued health and well-being! 🙏🏻💪🏻❤️
